Review Fix Exclusive: Mad Agony’s “Mad” Max Zane Talks Goals And More

Review Fix chats with Mad Agony’s “Mad” Max Zane who discusses the band’s new album, creative process and goals for 2018.

Review Fix: How did you guys get together?

Max Zane: We were younger in 1992, music was our life and we decided to form a band called “Mad Agony.” Then it’s history- we kept on playing heavy metal, recordedd a few albums and keep on rockin’ right now!

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Zane: Samael is the man! He composes almost every song, and I write lyrics. The rest of the band contribute to making a song unique and easily recognizable as a Mad Agony song. From time to time the other musicians in the band write a song. Hopefully more often than in the past.

Review Fix: What do you think makes this band special?

Zane: It’s all about attitude! A matter of attitude man! We think that there are a lot of great performing bands out there, skilled musicians and composers, but the lack of attitude strongly limit them. Mad Agony have the right attitude, a deep and strong heavy metal attitude!

Review Fix: How would you describe your style?

Zane: Heavy metal old school, with thrash influences.

Review Fix: What are your goals for this album?

Zane: Well, “Mad Patrol” is selling very well, the double-cd digipack limited edition is almost sold out and we’re very happy about this result. The goal for this album is to gain new fans, to let “Mad Agony” name and music known worldwide. Not an easy task, but we’re working hard for it!

Review Fix: What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?

Zane: We can’t honestly say that there’s a standout song in “Mad Patrol.” There’s a bunch of great songs and every fan tell us what he prefers. “Cold Stars,” “Circle of Fire,” “Let Me Die,” “Antiochia” and “Warriors of the Whales” are the fans favorites right now.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Zane: We’ll be back in studio next march to start to record the new album. It’ll be quite different from “Chernobitch” and “Mad Patrol.” But we don’t want to anticipate too much to you and the fans. We’re very happy and satisfied with the new songs, it’ll be a great album. Be patient and listen to “Mad Patrol” for now!
