Review Fix chats with Hubiz creator Edris Afzali, who discusses the game and who will enjoy it the most.
About Hubiz:
Hubiz brings back everyone’s favorite classic board and dice games and combines them with technology from today.
As the first-ever smart, audio-based gaming console, Hubiz consists of one console called “the Hub†with a built-in speaker, a mobile app and a set of connected dice, which work as controllers for up to 16 players. Every dice controller comes with 6 buttons (one on each side) that players use to answer questions from The Hub by either pressing buttons or rolling the dice. Hubiz then processes each answer, counts the scores of each player and continues to ask questions.
Review Fix: How was this game born?
Edris Afzali: This idea came to us when we were playing the classic games with our family and friends. For each game, we had to go to the store to buy them seperately. At that moment, we thought it is so much better if you can have one small box that provides you with several games. After that we started to think how to make this possible
Review Fix: What was development like?
Afzali: The development is divided in two parts: hardware and software. We developed the hardware to make the connection between the Hub and smartphone possible. For the software, we made an application with several games in it. The application will always be updated. In the future, the customers would have the ability to add more games to their Hub.
Review Fix: What makes this game special?
Afzali: Nowadays people are so busy with their mobile phones (sometimes playing a game), because the modern technology is so attractive. The classic board games are barely played during the family and friends visits. Since we have good memories of those awesome classic games, we want to bring it back in a new guise using the modern technology. Hubiz is special, because it is not just a game, it is a tool that brings the people together.
Review Fix: What games influenced this one the most?
Afzali: Quiz games.
Review Fix: What’s your favorite memory as a gamer?
Afzali: Our favorite memory is that as a child we played several group games together with family where we had so much fun. We looked forward to the weekends, because then we could play together till midnight without realizing that it was so late.
Review Fix: Who will enjoy this game the most?
Afzali: Since we have different games for each age group, we are sure that everyone will enjoy playing Hubiz. However, group games are mainly played by young adults, so we think that they will enjoy the most.
Review Fix: Bottom Line, why must someone play this game?
Afzali: Hubiz is a revamped version of all the classic games with additional modern tools. Instead of baying several expensive group games, one can now bay Hubiz and can save costs.Â
Review Fix: How do you want this game to be remembered?
Afzali: A game that brought family and friends back together!Â
Review Fix: What’s next?
Afzali: After reaching our goal successfully, we want to upgrade our software and hardware. We want expand our content by adding more games. Furthermore, we would like to add more languages, so that people from different countries who speak different languages can enjoy playing the games.
