BReview Fix chats with Mad Cave Comics CEO Mark London who discusses the brand’s new Honor and Curse series and why it shouldn’t be missed.
Review Fix: What inspired this comic?
Mark London: My love for ninjas, feudal Japan and of course the supernatural.
Review Fix: How is it different from your previous work?
London: I’m dealing with elements that I haven’t explored before. Experimenting with horror elements that I trust will benefit the overall story of Genshi Sakagura.
Review Fix: What makes this comic special?
London: It’s a really fun book. We’ve been working on it for three years now and the art by Nicolas Salamanca and the color by Tekino are just phenomenal. I have the privilege of having these two greats in my corner telling this strikingly impressive story that I can’t wait for people to read.
Review Fix: What creators do you think have influenced you the most?
London: On the comics side, I’d have to say guys like Mark Millar, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, and Geoff Johns. On the literary side, I’d say, Stephen King, Dan Brown, Tolkien, and Santiago Posteguillo.
Review Fix: How do you want it to be remembered?
London: As one of the best ninja stories ever seen in comics. This story has everything, from action to romance, from fantasy to the supernatural, from beautiful landscapes to wild spirits, I mean… what’s not to love?
Review Fix: What’s next?
London: Our next stop is Battlecats Volume 2 and then we will start rolling out our new stories helmed by this year’s talent search winners. More on that soon.
Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?
London: Mad Cave has an aggressive strategy for the next three years that we strongly believe will benefit fans of all genres. Mad stories with mad twists are coming your way from diverse writers and artist that love the medium, love the industry, and are giving it their best so that fans everywhere can have the best time reading comics.
