Review Fix chats with Wildheart’s Adam Finlay, who discusses the band’s creative influences, goals and new EP.
Review Fix: How did the project start?
Adam Finlay: We’ve been a band since March 2015. We all came from other local bands that had called it quits or just fizzled out. Both myself and Axel came from a band called Sevenskies, Kerry came a band called ‘The Lions War’ and Andrew has played in numerous Brisbane bands such as Sunsets, Arrivals and Never Lose Sight; and this is Jaya’s first band which is cute.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Finlay: We draw influence from so many different bands but we’ve been compared to old For The Fallen Dreams, The Ghost Inside, Counterparts even Architects which is mental to me as that band is super next level. I always start with just recording demo’s and sending them to my bandmates and start getting ideas moving round then start jamming them out just keep rinsing and repeating until a song / or songs come together!
Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?
Finlay: My personal favourite at the moment is probably ‘We Are’ and ‘Solitude.’ I always start with just recording demo’s and sending them to my bandmates and start getting ideas moving round then start jamming them out just keep rinsing and repeating until a song / or songs come together!
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2018?
Finlay: Our goal was to release our new EP ‘We Are’ which is exactly what we did!
Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?
Finlay: We hope that our music can help people out who might be going through a hard time or struggling with mental health issues or heartbreak or just had a crappy day at work, as that’s what music has done for me over the years so if we can give something back that’s great.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Finlay: We just are going to keep playing as many shows and tour around Australia as much as possible and work towards our next big release!
