Toast Wooden Nintendo Switch Skin Review: Get Wood Baby

Given the handheld nature of the Nintendo Switch, it’s a prime candidate for awesome skins to show off to your friends. The obvious choice would be to get one with one of your favorite Nintendo characters on it. But what if you wanted a skin that was a little fancier? Something that not everyone would have? That’s where Toast’s wooden Switch skin comes in. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s made of real wood.
The skin itself is solid. It feels like it would protect the console from minor bumps and scratches. The application process is relatively easy, you clean your console with the provided wipes, peel, and stick. Just don’t accidentally misplace it for too long, or trying to remove it will probably crack it.
The skin also bends around corners thanks to slits in the wood, which is a nice touch. Attention to detail overall is terrific. The wood itself feels nice, the grain pattern is pretty, and it doesn’t come off as tacky. It makes your switch…adulty.
There are a couple of nitpicks to be made, though. The skin itself is a little too thick. It makes docking and undocking your Switch difficult. You have to use quite a bit of force to make sure that it is entirely in place.
The other thing is, While the console itself may be fully covered, the kit leaves the dock partially exposed. The inclusion of panels for the port-cover, top, and back of the dock would’ve been nice. Yes, you don’t look at them so often, but it would/ve made the skin just that much better.
The funny part is, the skin may not completely cover the dock, but there are cutouts to cover all the buttons on the console. They gave the tablet a full treatment, the dock deserves just as much love. In the end, though, these issues don’t matter all that much. It’s not such a tight fit that the skin will break, and you really don’t see those parts of the dock all that much.
Regardless, the idea of a Switch skin made out of real wood is just cool. It could have quickly become a cheap mess, but Toast executed it almost flawlessly. It was packaged well and came with no scratches or cracks.
Do you really need a skin made out of genuine wood? No. But is it awesome? Yes. It’s a quality product that gives your console that touch of flair it needed without being too gaudy. Okay, it’s a little gaudy, but not obnoxiously so. It’s the perfect skin for someone who’s looking for a little bit of protection and a whole lot of style.
The Good:
Excellent Quality: The skin is made out of a solid piece of wood, feels pleasant to the touch and looks great.
The Bad:Minor Complaints: Even though the skin looks and feels great, it does leave something left to be desired regarding the dock. It also makes the tablet harder to take out of and put back into television mode.

Final Thoughts:
If you really want a unique switch skin that will make your console stand out, then Toast’s wooden Switch skin is perfect for you.
