Review Fix chats with Andrew Jarvis who discusses the band’s goals, standout track and future following the release of their latest album.
Review Fix: What’s the Band’s creative process like?
Andrew Jarvis: The creative process always starts with me writing the songs. Then he records a demo version with guitars and drum machine. Then he sends it to the rest of the guys. We all learn and elaborate on our parts then we practice the songs all together and work it out until they are tight. Often times Dan and I share lyric writing duty.
Review Fix: What makes you guys special?
Jarvis: What makes us special is that we focus on really strong songwriting and practising until we are tight to put on a really energetic stage show. Since we record our own albums, we have been able to make 4 albums in the past 7 years.
Review Fix: How would you define your style?
Jarvis: Our style is a mix of thrash, power and heavy metal. This allows the albums to be a diverse range of sounds to keep things fresh, from speed metal songs like ‘Wild Hunt’ to more melodic, old school type of songs like ‘Jenova’.
Review Fix: What are your goals for the new abum?
Our goals for Centralia were to have a mix of songs that would try to capture the energy and intensity of our live shows. Also we wanted to branch into speed metal a bit with songs like Wild Hunt and No Heights a Home. We also have continuously gotten better with producing our own albums, and this is the best sounding one yet.
Review Fix: What’s your standout track?
Jarvis: The stand out song is Wild Hunt, our first major foray into speed metal. It is based on the video game The Witcher 3. As lovers of both old school and current games a lot of our lyrics are based on the stories from our favourites.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Jarvis: What’s next for Answer With Metal is that we are going to keep pushing this album. We have been getting great promotion with VladPRomotion, and a lot of positive reviews are coming in for Centralia. We have shot a music video for Stand and Fight which should be out soon. Our album is available on Spotify and iTunes and the physical CD release date is May 24th, 2019. After that we are going to try to get some shows going over the summer. Our dream is do play some European summer festivals in 2020.
