Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?
Waylon Reavis: I got involved in music by chance. I didn’t even realize that you could be in a band when I was 15 years old. But my buddies were all playing guitars in their parents basement and I was like OMG I need to do this. I had played in school band for a few years at that point so music made sense to me but making my own music was purely exciting.
Review Fix: What makes this band special?
Reavis: What makes anything special? Everything is in the eye of the beholder. It’s special to me because it is where my heart truly lies. There are no boundaries that have to be avoided. Musically I do not feel chained to be a certain sound. It is special because it is true musical freedom.
Review Fix: How have you grown from the first album?
Reavis: The first album was created under extreme pressure. I learned that you only hurt yourself in the long run if you try to rush your ideas. This time I slowed the process down and seen each idea through to its fullest.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Reavis: I usually listen to the song a few time to see if I can hear myself on it. If I do I usually let my heart speak and the lyrics flow naturally.
Review Fix: What inspires you?
Reavis: Life. Life is full of ups and downs and I love writing songs with meanings in them of how we can learn from them.
Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?
Reavis: That is a difficult question. I cannot describe AKC’s sound because everybody seems to get something different out of it and every song is different. You cannot describe something that is like putty and is always changing.
Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?
Reavis: When you come see AKC you come for the full visual experience. It’s a black light show with screens all over stage that Animate the whole experience. I love watching from the stage at people being hypnotized By the full frontal assault of the music band and animated screens.
Review Fix: What was your biggest disappointment in the music industry and what do you think you’ve learned from it?
Reavis: I have no disappointments in the industry. Everything happens for a reason and you just need to learn from the ups and downs.
Review Fix: Why music?
Reavis: Why not? Music speaks to everyone in different ways no matter what nationality, race, or religion you are. Music is universal and speaks to the soul.
Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?
Reavis: NUMB is about true loss. When life has burdened you with so much negative that you actually become numb to feelings. But it has a moral about finding yourself through the darkness. The song to be taken so many different ways but that was what it was about to me.
Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2019?
Reavis: To get NUMB on every radio station out there. Hopefully hit a few support tours with some larger acts, And build the AKC army larger than it’s ever been.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Reavis: To shoot our video for our next single. Then start writing our next album by the end of the year.
Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?
Reavis: Thank you to all the fans that have supported AKC since day one. If you’re new to the group you can find everything you needed at www.Akillersconfession.com Or go follow us on Spotify.
