Review Fix Exclusive: Julian Daniel Talks ‘Lemontree’ And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Julian Daniel, who discusses his new track, “Lemontree,” as well as his upcoming EP, “E-BOY.”

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Julian Daniel: Music was always a huge part of my life since a was a little kid. There was always music around the house non-stop. My parents started enrolling me in different lessons such as guitar, violin, and vocal lessons. I fell in love with the whole aspect of music and how you can connect with so many people in different ways.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Daniel: My creative process differs from song to song. Usually, I will come up with some notes around what I want to talk about in the session. I will then bring those ideas to my producer and start working on melodies and top lines. We usually have a really rough demo by the end of a session that I will take back and tweak until I am in love with the lyrics and the overall song.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Daniel: Inspiration usually comes from places I’m traveling to, people I’m meeting along this journey and just stuff that I am going through as a nineteen-year-old guy.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Daniel: I would say my sound is really unique. It doesn’t quite fit into a particular category. I would say a mix between electronic synth-pop to punk-pop.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Daniel: In the studio, I’m a very relaxed and chill person. When I’m on stage I can bring my vision to life through, lighting, show intros, and the set design. I love to bring people into my world/head during a live show. I want audience members to feel the emotion I felt while working on the songs.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Daniel: My latest single was one of the coolest writing experience I have had so far. I started with the night before I was playing my first festival. I walked into my manager’s room and told her I wanted to write a song about lemons and people whoa re dead inside. Snap, Crackle, Pop, “Lemontree” was born.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2019?

Daniel: 2019 has been a big year of growth and development for me as a person and as an artist. I will be realizing my first debut EP, touring, and writing more and more.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Daniel: I have an EP called E-BOY coming out and starting to tour and travel to play my music life for the very first time which I am so excited for.
