Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Nicholas David, who discusses his creative process and origin in music.
Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?
Nicholas David: It’s in my DNA strands, I grew up listening to my grandfather play accordion n piano. Listened to the Motown sound my mom n dad had on in the car n in the stereo at home. I found out I could play piano early on, was a three-sport athlete in high school n found out I could sing in 10th. Kept playing football while pursing theater n musical theater to get experience on stage.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
David: I listen to the notes n rhythms that are already there echoing through the walls of time n pull them into this breath turning them into sound melody, music. It’s music from the heart for the heart.
Review Fix: What inspires you?
God
My wife
My children
My family n friends
My life and all it’s ups n downs
It’s all a gift
Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?
David: Music from the heart for the heart. It’s something real.
Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?
David: Not sure. The songs are played different every time. Every take.
Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?
If it’s Little By Little. It’s about looking at life. And how we our human family treat each other. It appears we’re distracted by the difference n the details. That we see and focus on what separates us as opposed to our commonality and what connects us. It’s about living what we pray about trying to be that love that we are called to be.
Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2019?
David: Keep bringing the good people music from the heart for the heart. To travel safe n keep on rocking the tour with the wonderful Miss Samantha Fish.
Review Fix: What’s next?
David: Touring behind the new record and still waiting on the call from Disney. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to work for Disney in some way shape or form.
Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?
David: Thank you kindly for the opportunity. Remember your dreams when you were a kid and ask yourself if you’ve followed or pursued them and if you haven’t I pray u find the courage and strength to do so. We’ve all been given gifts, talents and abilities to share and if we don’t use em we loose em.
