Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Savannah Maddison, who lets us know all about her origin in the industry, goals for the future and her new single, “If You Can.â€
Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?
Savannah Maddison: I’ve loved to sing for as long as I can remember, but I knew that I wanted to pursue music as a career at the age of 10 when I auditioned to sing the national anthem for the Miami Marlins. After being booked and performing in front of the stadium for the first time, I fell in love with being on stage. Since then, I’ve moved to Nashville after signing with CAA and began working as a recording artist. I love getting to share my music with the #safannah army!
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Maddison: Learning to write music in Nashville has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I wrote my first song at 10 and haven’t stopped writing since! I love collaborating with other local artists and watching a song go from day one (writing) to fully produced and ready to release. Being 19 and already being able to do and share what I love is so humbling. When I’m writing, I pull from experiences in my own life and put them down on paper before coming up with melodies. Learning guitar has also been super valuable in my creative process because I can take my Gibson’s anywhere!
Review Fix: What inspires you?
Maddison: Life! If something happens in my world, you’re probably going to hear a song about it. My newest release “If You Can†was written in about 20 minutes on a whim during my most recent to LA. I always remember to write down ideas that come to me during the day on the “notes†app on my phone for later!
Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?
Maddison: I pull from country roots but definitely add a South Florida pop flair to every song I touch! I love the storytelling aspect of country music and strong driving melodies of pop songs, so I consider myself a blend of the two.
Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?
Maddison: I love being in the studio, but being on stage is my favorite thing in the world. Being able to see and connect with an audience is a magical feeling. Nothing is more humbling than meeting #safannahs and hearing the ways that they’ve personally connected with the songs I’ve released. I am so excited to tour the US this summer with Cash and Maverick and meet so many supporters!
Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?
Maddison: During my most recent trip to LA, I had a writing session scheduled with Andrew Lane. The night before the write, he sent me the incredible track we’d be writing to for inspiration and I was so excited about the music that I decided to get started early. I had the entire song done in 20 minutes and the next morning, I brought it to Andrew to perfect. We loved the concept of a whirlwind relationship and falling in love quickly, and I came up with the “catch me if you can†hook to encompass the feeling of falling for someone fast and hoping that they feel the same way.
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?
Maddison: I am always working hard on great music and social media content to put out, so a constant goal of mine is to continue to share and keep my supporters updated on my life! I’m also currently preparing for the Elevation Tour with Cash and Maverick this summer, so a big goal mine is to have an amazing set! I can’t wait to share more about the preparation process on my Youtube channel soon.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Maddison: I am so excited continue to release music this year and to tour the US this summer with Cash and Maverick. You can come seem in a city near you!
Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?
Maddison: The response to the release of “If You Can†has been absolutely overwhelming! I’m so blown away and thankful for all of the shares, streams, and Tiktoks made to the song! It’s currently available on all streaming platforms and is playing on Radio Disney. You can follow my music journey on Instagram, Youtube, and Tiktok: @savannahmaddison.
