With Backlash this weekend, the WWE tied up a few of their storylines to get them ready for the event. At the same time, they did little to make a few opponents, especially The Iconics, look like worthy adversaries. Although Peyton Royce and Billie Kay did attack the Women’s Tag Team Champions later in the night, they looked incredibly weak in the ring. Bottom line, WWE Creative needs to step up.Â
Matches:
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions: Bayley and Sasha Banks vs. The IIconics: Billie Kay and Peyton Royce vs. Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Asuka: Asuka won with the Asuka Lock, but Flair took her out after the match.
Aleister Black and Humberto Carrillo vs. The Disciples: Buddy Murphy and Austin Theory: Black got the win, but Rollins and company destroyed them after the bell.
No. 1 Contender for the US Title: Kevin Owens vs. Andrade vs. Angel Garza w/Zelina Vega: Andrade stole the win from his own tag team partner in a fun bout.
Bobby Lashley and MVP vs. The Viking Raiders: Erik and Ivar: Lashley got the win over Erik with the Full Nelson, but Drew MCIntyre stepped in and rocked Lashley with a Claymore.
RAW Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair: Nia Jax got involved, which allowed Flair to win with the Yakuza Kick. After the match, Jax nailed Asuka with the Samoan Drop.
