Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Chloe Chadwick, who discusses her career, goals and newest single, Devil’s Game.
Review Fix: How did the project start?  Chloe Chadwick: The project started some 12 years ago when I initially moved to the northeast and for some reason, I started writing country music. I hadn’t been aware of much country music apart from the obvious Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, etc. My music has always been acoustic led and so I kinda fell into country music and I really liked it! It seemed to come so naturally, and with it not being at the forefront of the UK music scene, it’s a challenge and it’s different! I started listening to more country music (Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, and later Kacey Musgraves, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band) and I really got into it. It’s pretty addictive! And so I decided to write and play around with country riffs and lyrics, and well…my first EP was born in 2012. Since then the project has continued at a steady pace and I’ve loved it. I released my album in 2017 which hit the country iTunes Charts and I had some great success with it! Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?  Chadwick: I love getting creative at home as this is where I feel most comfortable writing. The actual writing process can be somewhat different every time though. I tend to find inspiration to write at the most obscure times, like in the middle of the night when I need to go to the toilet! Lol. Or when I’m driving in the car! I have to pull over and record the lyrics or the tune in my head so I don’t forget it! Then I lay an acoustic guitar down and play around with some chord progressions and work on the song until I’m happy to lay a demo recording of the track down. It all progresses from there if it’s a song I feel has potential. Review Fix: What’s your standout song and how was it written? Chadwick: I’m not really sure what my stand out song is. I’ve had a few successful singles and Devils Game is too close to call yet as it’s only recently been released. However, In regards to my fans favorite, I would say it’s a song called Feels Like Home. I actually wrote this song on a plane on my way home from Los Angeles. I was recording some music with a producer and record label over there. It was such a whirlwind experience, I was literally there for like 5 days and then came home, so I think I was jet-lagged the whole time! It was an amazing experience but I wrote the song in literally 10 minutes, of which the song was about home and how no matter where you are in the world or what you’re doing, the adventures you have…there’s still no place like home, family and being with the people you love the most. And that was the inspiration behind the song. It’s a happy country pop song and I believe that alongside the lyrics is what caught people’s attention. Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?  Chadwick: Well, times, of course, have been tough and the music industry has been turned upside down literally, especially concerning live music events so it’s been a little tough to get my head around. However, it doesn’t stop artists from being creative and releasing music so it was full steam ahead with my plans for releasing a single. My single Devils Game was released on 14th August. I will be releasing more music too hopefully and when we are able to, I shall be playing live again across the UK and who knows where else! Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?  Chadwick: In any way possible, music really does comfort people in more ways than ever before. More than anything I want people to just enjoy my music, It’s easy listening, there are stories to be had in all of my songs, and if my lyrics catch people’s attention and give people a sense of belonging, happiness, awareness, etc then I’m one happy gal! Review Fix: What’s next?  Chadwick: A second single, an EP, and who knows! |
