Retribution’s unveiling was almost as bad as the debut of Shockmaster in WCW. Awful, anti-climactic camerawork and the awful rebranding of a few proven NXT and Indie stars limited their debut immensely. While they were solid in the ring in the main event, they did little to elevate the brand before Clash of Champions. Sad, but true. If you needed any more proof that this creative team is finished, look no further.
Things got even worse on the show as Dominik Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo were in a #1 Contender’s match for the Tag Team Titles and the 24/7 Title vignette was a duster. Make no mistake, this show was a mess.
Matches:
Tag Team Title #1 Contender’s Match: Andrade and Angel Garza vs. Seth Rollins and Murphy vs. Humberto Carrillo and Dominik Mysterio: Andrade’s Judas Kiss and the Wing Clipper from Garza gave them the win.
Keith Lee vs. Drew McIntyre: This one got thrown out after Randy Orton got involved and beat on McIntyre with a chair and Punted Lee.
No. 1 Contenders’ Match: Mickie James vs. Zelina Vega: Vega won a sloppy match with a Backstabber.
Apollo Crews w/Ricochet vs. Cedric Alexander w/MVP: Crews got the win with a Rollup, but The Hurt Business destroyed Crews and Ricochet after the bell.
Lana and Natalya vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler: Lana got Choked out by Baszler and then Samoan Dropped through the announce table, again.
RAW Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Peyton Royce w/Billie Kay: Vega got involved to throw this one out.
Retribution: Mase, T-Bar and Slapjack vs. The Hurt Business: United States Champion Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander w/MVP: This one ended with T-Bar hitting Lashley when he wasn’t the legal man. Soon enough the other members of Retribution were in the ring, but Drew McIntyre and the rest of the RAW locker room cleaned house. Soon enough, Orton hit the ring and wiped out the Champion to end the show.
