Review Fix chats with Andrey Borzykin (male vocals / synths) who discusses the band’s origin, goals, standout work and more.
Review Fix: How did the project start?
Andrey Borzykin: There’s no simple answer to this, unfortunately, haha. I guess I can say it started as a dream, many years ago when I was living in Russia, and didn’t even know how or when I was going to make it happen. I just knew I’d figure it out eventually. I moved to the United States, went through hell and high water, changed a dozen jobs, started several businesses, constantly procrastinating the pursuit of my music aspirations. 3 years ago I decided it was finally time to start moving in the right direction before it’s too late. The first single Major Moment has released is inspired by this very story. You can check it out here:
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Borzykin: We try not to fit it into any certain formula. After all, it should remain creative, haha. But if I was to look for some similarities… When we get lyrical or musical ideas, it can be at any point in time, we write them down / record in the voice recorder or in Logic Pro X, if we have a laptop nearby, then when we can dedicate enough time, we sit down, go through the list and see if we can develop one or more of those ideas into a song, if we can combine some, etc. Sometimes we just sit down and try to come up with a melody that we think has a potential to be turned into a full song. When our home demos are finished, and we feel like we’re ready for somebody to tear them apart, we book some time with our producer Kevin Billingslea (Vanna / Valleyheart / Lamb of God) at The Halo Studio for pre-production. We go over arrangement, melodies, harmonies, lyrics and production, and see if it can be improved. Then we go back home, learn the parts and see if we have any last minute ideas to bring to the table. We then go to the studio to actually track / record them as they will appear on the record.
Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?
Borzykin: I’d have to go with the single we released recently called “The Floodâ€. Feel free to check it out here: https://youtu.be/TcTTehVBW3I
This is a very special song for us for multiple reasons. It’s the first song me & Sasha sat down and wrote together, prior to that I would normally come up with most of the instrumentation & lyrics, and she would then add a thing or two, or make a suggestion to tweak something. We also wrote it during a very depressing period of uncertainty for our band, when all other band members decided to abandon what they thought was a sinking ship. What came out of it is our most successful song to date, and the one we’re super-proud of.
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2021?
Borzykin: We’ve got plenty! New music, music videos, live streams, hopefully live shows too…
Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?
Borzykin: Yes! Haha. Seriously though, once the music is out, it stops being ours and becomes everyone’s, and everyone has a different relationship with the music. We’d love our music to help people in any way possible, whether it being a source of motivation, or an invisible shoulder to cry on, a beacon of hope, or just something to rock out to.
Review Fix: What’s next?
