The Most Awaited Games of This Spring

Gaming is a wonderful relaxation. For those who love gambling, there are live dealer games in Canada, for those who like puzzles, there are QuizzLand and online Chess. But what if you’ve played everything? Then wait for these releases. They’re coming out this spring.

Resident Evil Village

The eighth part of the cult series is made with a first-person view and, unlike RE7 three years ago, is an action-horror, not the other way around. The action, as the name implies, takes place in the countryside, inhabited by witches, monsters and the hell knows what; in the game you have to think fast and shoot a lot, but do it carefully – ammunition is always in short supply, and buying them from the in-game merchant – pure ruin. It’s also worth saying that it’s better to play Village on a powerful computer or next-generation consoles. The graphics here look better than the Hollywood movies of five or seven years ago.

Biomutant

Biomutant is a very ambitious and not very predictable game. In Biomutant you need to create a battle beast and go in search of adventures in a vast open world inhabited by other animals: the protagonist is able to absorb their DNA and mutate into new forms in the process. Moreover, the game allows you to attach mechanical parts to the protagonist and get a personal walking robot. It all looks like the most insane version of Grand Theft Auto. The developers also promise that the plot turns and even the final fate of the game world will depend on the player’s actions. It’s not clear, though, how it will be implemented in practice.

The Medium

Psychological horror, the action of which takes place simultaneously in two worlds – our world and the otherworld. It is no coincidence that what is happening in The Medium reminds us of the classic horror series Silent Hill: the music was composed by Akira Yamaoka, the irreplaceable composer of the latter; the design of monsters and the main antagonist also makes us remember the main inspiration of the Polish Bloober Team. It’s also interesting that The Medium is one of the first games for the new Xbox to use futuristic background streaming technology. In practice, this means that the two game worlds alternate and even layer on top of each other without forcing the user to sit in front of loading screens.

Balan Wonderworld

Balan is the first solo project in a very long time by the great Japanese game developer Yuji Naki, the creator of the iconic blue hedgehog Sonic. The new game is a colorful platformer based on music and cross-dressing: there are eight dozen costumes for the main character scattered throughout a dozen huge levels “stories”. It’s all too conceptual and too colorful to seriously engage any adults, but kids exhausted by distance learning are guaranteed to be happy.

Outriders

Polish studio People Can Fly is known for its uncompromising approach to shooters: their previous works Painkiller and Bulletstorm are festivals of insane gunfights, Hollywood game physics and grotesque special effects. Their new work Outriders is done in a similar manner but with an important nuance. It is not a story-based shooter, but a multiplayer service game. Four classes of characters with unique superpowers, role-playing elements, raids and endless pumping of parameters. It is assumed that the game will be played for many years. What exactly will come out of this endeavor is still unclear, but Outriders already looks significantly better than all of its brethren in the genre.

Deathloop

Deathloop is one of the first games designed exclusively for PlayStation 5; you won’t be able to play it on PS4. The point is this: the protagonist, a mercenary named Colt, gets stuck in a time loop during which he must eliminate eight living targets. If you get out of the time limit, all progress is reset and the game starts all over again. If you die during the mission, all progress is reset and the game begins again. If another live player joins the game session and can interfere with the task, you have already understood what will happen.
