Review Fix Exclusive: Mindwake’s Charley Gouverneur Talks 2021 Goals And More

Review Fix chats with Mindwake’s singer Charley Gouverneur, who discusses the band’s origin and goals for the rest of 2021.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Charley Gouverneur: A party with friends, we were drunk and high and we wanted to do metal together, we were beginners to our instruments at the time, we worked, composed and started the rehearsals.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Gouverneur: It is mainly our drummer Lou who composes the songs because he is also a guitarist and bassist, he is very talented in composition, which is a big advantage for the band. If the other guitarists have ideas, we try to fit them into the compositions, everyone is free to compose. For the lyrics I am inspired by history, life experience, emotions, I like to transcribe what I feel on paper even if sometimes it is by impulse.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Gouverneur: It’s a track from our next ep, we composed it with Lou with a lot of weed haha! you will see for yourselves, it is very very heavy.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2021?

Gouverneur: We want to finish recording our next ep, make music videos, find a label that would be willing to work with us and help us distribute our music, book a tour.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Gouverneur: Our music comes from our guts, we release all our aggressiveness and our emotions in our songs, I would like people to have the thrill when listening to our sounds, that they feel our emotions and that they want to destroy the pit.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Gouverneur: Be ready, we are preparing something very, very heavy for you, much more than our 1st album, we can’t wait to share it with you.
