Review Fix chats with The Happiness Warrior Eric North discusses his current book in progress, Learning Lifts Us Up.

Review Fix: I hear there is a book in the works. How was this concept born?

Eric North: Last year at the beginning of the pandemic I began to see myself identifying more clearly as a warrior. I told myself that it was time for leaders to step up and felt a sense of urgency and need.  I began making videos and writing with the to help people cope and find strength and courage in themselves. Six months later the Happiness Warrior was born, and I felt a strong intuitive awareness that came from finally realizing my true purpose in life.

Review Fix: What makes this book special?

North: I’ve always had a lot to say and dreamed of being a writer for most of my life. As the Happiness Warrior I have the privilege of sharing my thoughts and aspirations for creating a happier world. The book is clear picture of my intention in my authentic voice.

Review Fix: What other books influenced this one the most?

North: I often go back to the basics and mentally reference books that changed have shaped me throughout my life. Wayne Dwyer always comes to mind, I used to read him every night when I was rebuilding my life many years ago.

Review Fix: Any fun stories or wild moments during the writing process?

North: There’s always that moment when someone who I really respect watches my videos or reads my columns and makes a connection that changes their lives. To me that is the most fun and brings me the most joy.

Review Fix: What were the major lessons learned?

North: 1.       Beginning to write was unnerving at first and I had to get over my feelings of fear and just do it! I can do anything when I set my mind to it.

2.       Consistency:  I write at the same time every morning, seven days a week.

3.       Greater authenticity comes from sharing personal experiences.

4.       It’s both humbling and liberating to share my failures and past mistakes. It’s also a great way to make fun of myself and not take life too seriously.

5.       Intention can be mind-blowing when we believe in ourselves.

Review Fix: The marketplace is crowded. How do you think you stand out?

North: My mission to be happier and help others find more happiness and that resonates with everyone. There’s only one Happiness Warrior!

Review Fix: How have your previous experiences in the industry helped this book?

North: I’ve been an entrepreneur, created multiple businesses, and worked as a catalog print model in NYC over the last ten years. All these experiences have shaped and helped create the Happiness Warrior and made me a better human.

Review Fix: How do you want this book to ultimately be remembered?

North: This book was written by someone who cared about everyone, and I mean EVERYONE.

Review Fix: What’s next?

North: One of my goals is to be a motivational speaker for the new post-pandemic age. The old days of massive egos and demagogues is over, we need our leaders to show more integrity, authenticity, and relatability.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

North: The Happiness Warrior has become my identity and my purpose in life at a time in my life when I thought I’d done everything.  For that, I’m beyond grateful.
