We take a look today at issue #54 in Volume 3 of Green Lantern from DC Comics and published in August 1994. Written by Ron Marz, this controversial issue became a hotbed for the conversation surrounding the use of women in comics. Alex’s murder and the subsequent discovery of her corpse in the refrigerator in this issue was the nominal inspiration for Gail Simone’s infamous Women in Refrigerators Syndrome, the theory that female characters are needlessly victimized for plot purposes. I hope you learn something new as we dive into this needle-moving book from the 90s and see what exactly lead to Alex’s death and the aftermath that followed. Thanks for watching! Enjoy!
