“Escape — To Terror!” Writers: John Byrne, Stan Lee Penciler: John Byrne Inker: Tom Palmer Colorist: Tom Palmer Letterer: Rick Parke Did you know in 1982 while John Byrne was on his hottest run in comics (Uncanny X-Men, Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight),he and Stan Lee put together a one-shot Silver Surfer comic? I find that when John Byrne is brought up in most comic circles, you rarely hear of his work on Silver Surfer. Why though I ask? It’s a fantastic book that carries all the hallmarks of Stan Lee’s verbose prose, John Byrne’s amazingly drawn lines, and Tom Palmer’s excellent inks and on a character as beloved as the Silver freakin’ Surfer! I wanted to share this personal favorite of mine. Who knows? Maybe this will make you keep an eye out for this book when your bargain comic crate-digging next time you are out at the shop! Enjoy my deep dive into the one-shot that was seemingly lost to John Byrne’s own overpowering legacy. Thank you for watching!
