This was a solid, but mostly non-eventful Rampage so I’m going to jump right in to the rankings and keep things short this week.
Honorable Mention: Matt Hardy and Nyla Rose. Hardy quoted “Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos” by Public Enemy in response to Stokely Hathaway informing him he’ll be wrestling on Dark Elevation this week and that got a laugh from me because Hathaway issued Hardy what was essentially a black culture quiz on Twitter when he first got the contract for The Firm. Nyla makes it for stealing not only Jade Cargill’s belt but her car and then changing the “Heyyyyy” in 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” to “Jaaaaaddddddeee”
5. Penta El Zero M. The Lucha Bros. and Ortiz were in the back with Alex Marves to have an intervention with Eddie Kingston about his anger issues. Pac interrupted and asked Eddie how his anger worked out for him at Grand Slam? But the highlight was Penta calling Eddie his best friend which was continuity I loved.
4. Willow Nightingale. She finally got a win! And an AEW contract! Nightingale overcame the outside interference from Kiera Hogan to beat Leila Grey with a Doctor Bomb and earn a spot on the AEW roster. I love to see it because Willow is just the most lovable, charismatic face the women’s division in AEW has and one of the best natural faces in all of wrestling.
3. Hook. At 14-0 with every match going under 5 minutes Ari Daivari wasn’t the opponent to give him his first L or take Hook beyond that tonight as he made quick work of Daivari pulling him off the apron and into the ring with a Redrum after denying Sterling’s final offer to buy the FTW title with cash. Sterling’ butler Jeeves Kay (the former VSK) tried to fan him with the loose cash after the match only to eat a Redrum of his own.
2. The Acclaimed. Yo. Listen. “Smart” Mark Sterling owned the trademark to scissors so Nese & Woods put it on their clothes. The Acclaimed were triggered. Billy Gunn got tossed but Acclaimed still delivered by nailing Nese with a mic drop Caster hit with such vigor. After they hit Sterling with the Scissor Me Timbers.
1. Orange Cassidy. He retained over 10 and Rush. Whatever.
