Brady Harris’s latest offering, Hotel In The Sky, starts with a bang and keeps the good times rollin’. Saturated with fat bass lines and groovy classic rock sensibilities, this five-track EP is a short and sweet taste of the singer-songwriter’s Beatles-esque style. Hotel in the Sky is 20-ish minutes of throwbacks to a bygone era.
The EP opens with the title track, “Hotel in the Sky,” a fun bop resplendent with Harris’s buttery and bright vocals. Complete with sexy guitar solos and a bouncy rhythm section you can’t help but bop your head with. It’s a not-so-subtle feel-good anthem that would feel at home as background music to a sesh.
The good vibrations kick up to eleven with the follow-up track, “Economy of Sound.” From a boosted tempo to scratchy riffs and tasty bass licks, the song is the highest-energy offering of the batch. Harris pulls no punches for this kick-ass new-age classic rock anthem.
“Welcome Back To The Comedown” keeps the drug-fueled flavor and slows things down a notch. But the song loses none of the electricity the first two tunes generated. The stank face-inducing key section carries listeners on a gentle wave, even if the subject matter isn’t so pleasant. The four-minute banger is a highlight of the collection.
As with every other song on the EP, “Parting Gift” makes you want to sway your hips to the rhythm. The tune’s chunky licks and bouncy bass lines are a delight. And Harris’s hook will be stuck in your head for days.
Lastly, “Chateau Hill” picks up the jazzy keyboard that “Welcome to the Comedown” left off. The final song on the EP turns the tempo to its slowest in the collection. Harris highlights his moody guitar style and sweet vocals.
Hotel In The Sky is a twenty-minute love letter to the stylings of 60s classic rock. The EP oozes style and charisma. It manages to feel entirely fresh and new while somehow retaining a clear focus on its inspirations. Brady Harris is at his best with this latest offering.
