AEW Dynamite Coverage: Swerve’s House

With Dynasty a few weeks away, AEW delivered some excellent Tag Team matches and set up a few big-time title matches.

Matches:

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Will Ospreay: Shibata took it all including the Tiger Driver but he couldn’t kick out of The Hidden Blade.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament First Round Match: Private Party: Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen vs. Young Bucks: Matthew and Nicholas Jackson: Tons of offense. Tables turned when Quen missed a 450 and walked right into an EVP Trigger.

AEW TBS Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Anna Jay vs. Kris Statlander vs. Skye Blue vs. Willow Nightingale: The Doctor Bomb gave Nightengale the win but Julia Hart crushed her with the TBS Title after the match.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament First Round Match: Best Friends: Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta w/Chuck Taylor vs. ROH Tag Team Champions The Kingdom: Matt Taven and Mike Bennett w/ROH International Champion Roderick Strong: Strong got involved but Taylor paid dividends as Berretta Rolled Up Bennett, countering the Stuff Piledriver.

Swerve Strickland w/Prince Nana vs. Konosuke Takeshita w/Don Callis: Great back and forth. Takeshita is amazing- ton of pop off the ropes, super fast, stiff strikes and some awesome suplex variations. Strickland though just never stops. His ring instincts are that of a navy veteran. Always knows where he is and is innovative. After a sexy corner DDT, Strickland hit a Sky Twister, but Takeshita wasn’t done yet. He nearly won with a Poisonrana and the Blue Thunder a segment later. Strickland then hit a Swerve Stomp on the apron, but Takeshita hit the Running Knee and nearly won. Takeshita kicked out of another Swerve Stomp but Swerve hit a Standing Swerve Stomp and then a Front Half Nelson Driver for the win.
