Review Fix Exclusive: R&B/Gospel Legend Keith Mitchell Talks ‘He’s Alive’ And More

Review Fix chats with singer Keith Mitchell about his new single, “He’s Alive.”

About Keith Mitchell:

A powerful showcase for Keith’s ultra-infectious vocal, rap and songwriting talents, “He’s Alive” – the lead single from his upcoming debut album Food for Your Life – is an overflowing expression of the singer’s great joy over the living presence of God in his life. While the song is his personal testimony, it’s also an invitation for others to invite Christ in and experience the emphatic change for themselves.

In verse one, he reminds us of the first of many great Truths: “No need to feel despair…God will meet you on the road/He’ll never leave you on your own.” All it takes is that we “make a sacrifice today/and learn to love and pray.” Then Keith shares the essence of a relationship with Jesus: “He wants you to live/He’ll give you all you want/And all you have to do is follow the word and praise and thank him and glorify/Lift his name in all you are.” In Verse two, the singer reminds us, “He’ll make you give your love to him/Make you sing his praises when/He will make you change…Glorify the name.” In the dynamic rap section, Keith asks pointedly, “When you find the Lord. . .Will you testify what he did with your life?” before sharing the greatest spiritual reality of all: “Jesus, we know you’re alive…”

Review Fix: What does this part of your musical journey mean to you?

Keith Mitchell: This part of my musical career is about the opportunity to establish creative freedom.  The chance to express my musical sensibilities, with melodies and rhythms that appeal to me.  Finally, it is the opportunity to do my music for God, through me….use my life to be a vessel for Him!

Review Fix: How did He’s Alive come together?

Mitchell: “He’s Alive” comes from the loneliness I experienced after going through an unwanted divorce.

The open lines just seemed to flow as my heart was feeling the emptiness of the reality of not knowing about how I’d continue my life moving forward alone.  But I new from past teachings that God was near, and he never leaves you. And I began to write.

Review Fix: What are you the most proud of when it comes to this single?

Mitchell: I am most proud of this single because it clearly expresses the most fundamental aspects of your belief in God, and the simple fact that God lives in each one of us.  When a person believes in Christ, then most people would expect that He’s alive in them–in me, and in YOU!

Review Fix: What does it have that’ll attract new listeners and returning ones?

Mitchell: This song has a strong music beat, and rhythms filled with the Hammond B3 organ and piano…soulful gospel vocals, filled with conviction, love and passion for the sacrifice God made for all of us!  Rejoice!

Review Fix: How important has your religious journey been to this era of your tunes?

Mitchell: My entire journey through life has truly been important to me…how I was raised, the early teachings in the belief in God, Jesus, and the word of God.  These teachings are the foundation of my music. They reside deep in my heart and soul. I’ve been sold out on my beliefs since I was a child.  The music I sing about now is rooted in my heart, mind and soul!

Review Fix: How has CrefloDollar influenced you?

Mitchell: I am proud of the time I spent learning under the spiritual teachings of Creflo Dollar.  His profound methods teach you to become a better listener.  His method is like swallowing baby food.  He breaks down a particular topic, and guides you through the text–scripture after scripture, dwelling on a specific topic.  He’ll guide you into different chapters, where the Bible is sharing the same understanding of a message; drilling home your understanding on a subject…providing a clear understanding!  In all you do, get understanding!!!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Mitchell: What’s Next?  It is to go out and share this powerful message about the Good News of the Glory of God…how much I Love Him, and how much He loves us!!  Amen.

Feed those who will listen with my version of Goooood, “Food for Your Life!!!”

Review Fix: Where can people find out more about you?

Mitchell: I can be found on Spotify, You Tube, Instagram, Facebook, Tic Toc, Vevo Video
