Review Fix Exclusive: DeeAnn DiMeo Talks ‘Simply Beautiful,’ Fans, Upcoming Single and More

Review Fix chats with singer DeeAnn DiMeo, who discusses her new single and upcoming shows and the receptions behind her recent work.

About DeeAnn DiMeo: Niagara Falls-native, National recording artist, DeeAnn DiMeo has her roots anchored in gospel, blues/jazz, and soul. In 2019, she was inducted into the Niagara Falls Music Hall of Fame and has won multiple Buffalo Music awards for Best Female Vocalist. She has fronted several bands as the lead singer and primary songwriter, receiving airplay across the country in college and jazz stations with previous projects and currently with her new single, “Simply Beautiful.”

Review Fix: You’ve been on fire this Spring with the release of Simply Beautiful and tons of positive press. How have you been feeling?

DeeAnn DiMeo: I am feeling enormously grateful for all the positive press and the support from so many people who made this happen. It definitely takes team effort.

Review Fix: Did you anticipate the power of the track?

DiMeo: I believe in the song and I have been excited to receive so many great reviews. My producer, Ted Perlman brought out that deeper soulful side of my vocal. Having Nashville’s great musicians, Jody Nardone, Jonathan Nixon, Brian Czach, Moe Loughran, and Damine Horne play on the track also helped create that soul/jazz feel of the song.

Review Fix: How does someone from a place so cold (Buffalo, NY) have such a warm voice?

DiMeo: That’s a funny question, but thank you for the compliment. Buffalo is a beautiful city to live in filled with many talented musicians and singers. It’s a city full of love, warmth, and support for each other. The cold weather part is not my favorite. All I can say is…dress in layers.

Review Fix: What do you think has been different for you lately? What’s been the driving force behind this momentum?

DiMeo: My faith in God and his Will drives me to be the best version of myself in my music and in life. The losses of many loved ones remind me how short of a time we have here on this earth and we need to make the best of it and follow our passion while we can.

Review Fix: Who and what inspires you?

DiMeo: My father was also a singer and he has always been my inspiration. We recorded a couple songs together on my first album and I’m grateful I have those recordings. He always believed in my music and gave me constructive criticism which helped me grow as a vocalist.

Review Fix: Any tours this Summer?

DiMeo: I am doing local shows right now since I have been spending most of my time traveling back and forth to Nashville and Florida working on my new album, with my producer, Ted Perlman, which will be released later this summer.

Review Fix: I hear there’s a new single. Tell us about it.

DiMeo: I chose “Kiss of Life” for my second single after discussing it with myproducer, Ted, and PR, Tom Estey. The song is about love, and the divine and spiritual connection between the partners. Lyrics like, “There must have been an angel by my side, something heavenly led me to you,” are beautiful, and I can relate to them. I love the melody that’s so subtle and sultry, along with Ted’s musical arrangement which allows me to scat throughout the song at my leisure.

Review Fix: Any words to your fans?

DiMeo: Yes, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your love and support of my music. I wouldn’t be here without you. Each Day is A Gift.
