n over five decades in music, the iconic Keith Mitchell has given his fans the world, but this time it’s even more personal.
Channeling his origins in music, Mitchell’s newest track, “HE’S ALIVE”, the lead single from his upcoming album, Food for Your Life, isn’t like his previous work, which was about connecting people through love and relationships.
This time out, it’s about connecting them to GOD.
Using powerful lyrics and his signature sultry R&B sound, this marks his first work as a solo artist as well.
This is far from Mitchell’s first time in your ears however, even if the name doesn’t immediately ring true. A founder of the Grammy-Nominated R&B vocal group After 7, founded in 1987 by Mitchell and Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, the trio was initially produced by mega hit-makers Babyface (the Edmonds’ younger brother) L.A. Reid, and Daryl Simmons for the group’s self-titled 1989 debut album, which spawned the Billboard #1 R&B hits “Ready or Not” and “Can’t Stop.” Fans of that sound will find themselves instantly at home with Mitchell’s vocals. This time around however, there’s more purpose to the sound.
Again, it’s all about the lyrics. Using his commercially-proven sound, Mitchell delivers powerful vocals that deliver and inspire.
“No need to feel despair. God will meet you on the road. He’ll never leave you on your own.”
In his own way, those lyrics while intended to build the listeners relationship with GOD, simultaneously tell a story of Mitchell’s career as a musician. Whether in a group or solo, you know what you’re going to get- music that makes you feel. “HE’S ALIVE” is absolutely proof of that.
