Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On in Bon Temps

TruebloodintertitleEpisode Commentary: Frenzy

Damn you labor day weekend.

That’s the only possible reason for having to wait two weeks until the season finale of the devilishly brilliant “True Blood.”

Looking for help in killing the maenad Maryann, Bill traveled to to the home of Queen Sophie Anne. As Queen of Louisina, Sophie Anne, played by the sultry Evan Rachel Wood, has information that even the 1000-year-old Eric doesn’t have, and she obviously commands a great deal of respect, making Bill feed and even play Yahtzee, despite his protests. How old she is as well as exactly how she became Queen are unclear, and will probably remain that way for a while, but her nonchalant attitude and lust for pre-Industrial Era blood was a wonderful addition. Hopefully, it wasn’t just a one-time appearence.

While Bill was away, Sookie spent her time with Lafayette, trying to keep Tara from going after Eggs. Keeping lookout for Maryann’s crazies, the two bonded over their hatred of Eric. Dreams, visions and just knowing he can feel them was enough to make their skin crawl. As Sookie and Lafayette talked outside, Lettie Mae found a way to earn back her daughter’s love, for better or worse.

Seeking for his own way to take down Maryann, Sam along with Arlene’s two children, head out to Fangtasia to ask Eric what he knows about her kind.

After all the nasty things she said about her son’s girlfriend, Maxine finally got what she deserved last week when Jessica attacked her. Despite all she’s done, Maxine is still Hoyt’s mother and he couldn’t let Jessica hurt her anymore. In her controlled state, Maxine revealed certain secrets to Hoyt about his father, secrets nobody wants to hear about their parents. Though certainly not a main story line, or even an important one, with the rest of the town gone to hell, Hoyt and Jessica’s relationship has been a fun one to watch hopefully will be next season.

As everyone else is looking for ways to stop the maenad, Jason, along with the jealous Andy, are preparing to take the fight to her. When Jason Stackhouse is a leader among men, you know something bad has happened, but with his para-military training, he’s the best they got and if he’s not the most qualified, at least he’s funny in the role.

Once again, “True Blood” proves it’s the best show on TV, though there were somethings that just felt a bit disjointed, like Maryann’s explanation of how she came to Bon Temps. Nevertheless, “Frenzy” is another excellent episode in a series filled with them. Just one more episode to see how it all will end, and you can bet it’s gonna be a gory good time.

As an avid doer of nothing, I have dedicated my entire life to knowing every line of Seinfeld as well as most from The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and Scrubs. I’m not ashamed to admit I was teary eyed during the Scrubs finale, and bawled uncontrollably the first time I saw the Futurama episode “Jurassic Bark.” When not watching obscene amounts of television, and by obscene I mean watching the entire first season of Battlestar Galactica in one day, I’m listening to an ungodly amount music. Classic rock and classic/alternative/underground hip-hop are my genres of choice. I can go from listening to “Stairway To Heaven” from the, well if you don’t know who that’s from that’s your problem, to Big L’s “Devil’s Son” back to “I Am The Walrus.” I also absolutely love movies and video games. The Godfather Parts I and II and Lord of the Rings (a trilogy I have watched in one day) are my favorite movies, while GTA San Andreas, God of War, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Metal Gear Solid 4 are my favorite games. Besides entertainment, I am completely in love with sports. I love both the Jets and Giants, though I lean more towards the Jets, and I unequivocally bleed the Mets’ Blue & Orange. David Wright, Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran are my Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and Citi Field is my Vatican. I must say, I look forward to forcing my thoughts and opinions upon you. Don’t worry though, they will soon become your own. And yes, I do have a tendency to overwrite.
