Review Fix chats with Carly Lucas, Communications Manager at Madame Tussauds New York, who discusses the newest addition to the world famous wax museum, E.T., just in time for the 32nd anniversary of the blockbuster film.
Review Fix: When and how was the decision made to have E.T. join the lineup at Madame Tussauds?
Carly Lucas: In 1982, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial became the biggest blockbuster of the year, and it has remained one of the most successful, well-loved films of all time. We’re certain our guests will enjoy the unique opportunity to “star†alongside E.T., and his beloved character is an exciting addition to the new film experience opening this month at Madame Tussauds New York.
Review Fix: How long did it take to make him?
Lucas: The figure was created in London by using detailed information sourced by Madame Tussauds’ world renowned artists, and it took approximately two months to create.
Review Fix: How can patrons interact with him?
Lucas: Guests can relive a classic scene from the film by taking Elliott’s place on a BMX bike carrying E.T. set against the iconic, full moon backdrop.
Review Fix: How long will he be on exhibit?
Lucas: E.T. is a permanent addition to Madame Tussauds New York and will be featured in the new film experience opening this month.
Review Fix: Are there any other plans to add other Universal properties to the museum’s catalogue?
Lucas: Not at this time, but we do add new figures and experiences throughout the year. Stay tuned for exciting new figure announcements.
Review Fix: Is there anything else you’d like to say about the addition to the museum?
Lucas: Madame Tussauds New York is located in the heart of Times Square and has over 200 wax figures of the biggest stars and icons in entertainment, sports, history and more. In the new film & TV experience, guests can take a starring role alongside their favorite characters in interactive sets. Whether acting as Bruce Willis’ stunt double or catching jellyfish with SpongeBob SquarePants, there is a star for every generation at Madame Tussauds New York.
