This week’s Impact was easily the weakest Impact since the show moved to Destination America, but that doesn’t mean it was terrible. Several advancing storylines made this more of an episode to be remembered as a builder- one that fuels a fire slowly, rather than serving as gasoline.
It may not make for the best wrestling you’ve ever seen, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the shows at this point last year. That’s got to mean something.
Matches:
Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode: A great back and forth that ended after Roode latched on the Crossface and got the win via submission. Left weak after missing a Suicide Dive, Aries did everything but hit Roode with the Brainbuster. After the match, Roode told Aries he was one of his toughest opponents and then challenged TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley for a match. That was before Eric Young surprised him with a Piledriver. After medical personnel attempted to take Roode to the back, Young decided to hit the move on Roode on the ramp.
Crazzy Steve vs. Bram: Steve tried to fight, but Bram put him away quickly with the Impaler DDT.
Ethan Carter III and Tyrus vs. Rockstar Spud, Mandrews and Jeremy Borash: EC III and Tyrus were in complete control using strikes, quick tags and Tyrus’ massive Suplexes. Jeremy Borash shocked the crowd with a Cross Body to the outside on Tyrus, but ECIII got the win with the One Percenter on Spud. After the match, Carter went to shaveSpud’s head, but the returning Mr. Anderson took out both Tyrus and Carter.
Madison Rayne vs. Awesome Kong: Rayne talked smack before the match, but Kong quickly destroyed Rayne with a corner Avalanche and the Double Underhook Buster.
Kurt Angle and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley vs. Samoa Joe and MVP w/Low-Ki: A solid back and forth with plenty of offense. Angle almost got a win with the Angle Slam, but MVP broke up the pinfall and worked on Angle. After Joe tagged back in, Angle suffered some more until he tagged in Lashley. Although Lashley was the legal man, Angle locked in Joe with the Ankle Lock, ruining a perfect opportunity for Lashley to hit the Spear and win. After their miscommunication, Lashley was Rolled Up by MVP for the loss.
