Hell’s Kitchen Coverage: All About Mieka

There was football, families and one too many improperly cooked meats in this week’s episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

This episode started with the chefs drinking beer and wine and playing a game called “never have I ever.” Bret was having none of it. He even said, “won’t catch me there embarrassing my momma.” This wasn’t the last time he was angry this episode.

The next morning the chefs were given “Hell’s Kitchen” football jerseys and sent off to a football field. The day’s was to split into four groups, each group representing four American dishes (mac n cheese, pizza, burger and spaghetti.) After they had to catch footballs that had ingredients on them and then place whatever ingredients they wanted near their dish. Of course, since these chefs aren’t athletic, they were dropping them left and right or not catching them at all.

Back in “Hell’s Kitchen” they had to now cook their dishes using these ingredients. On mac n cheese was Josh, Milly, Christine and Alison. Pizza was Bret, Nick, T and Michelle. Burger was Meghan, Mieka and Randy (going solo.) Spaghetti was Monique, Sarah, Brendan and Adam.

At tasting the chefs had to choose one dish from each pair. The Red chose Sarah, Michelle, The Blue hose Bret

To help with tasting the guest judges were chef/co-owner of “Lucques and A.O.C” Suzanne Goin and chef/owner of “David Burke Prime” David Burke. One of the highlights was Michelle’s pizza which had pineapple. Normally pineapple is terrible on pizza (even forbidden in most parts of Italy) but the judges liked it. She didn’t get any points, though. By the end, it was tied 4-4 with Sara’s dish winning the tie breaker and the Red enjoying the day on a historical ship called “The American Pride.”

Saying Bret was pissed is an understatement. He looked like he was ready to kill somebody. In fact, he almost started crying. Cutting 500 pounds of onions as punishment didn’t help things either. Not to mention he looks like a rabid pit bull when he’s angry.

His anger wasn’t ad bad as Ramsay’s come dinner service. This episode dinner service was family night, and that never goes well.

In the Blue Brendan brought up only one and a half portions of risotto instead of two. Bret made it worse when he mixed the old risotto with the new one he refired. This is one of Ramsay’s many pet peeves. Ramsay even made of Milly for being slow. “Hey! Hey! I’m a big *bleep* Frankenstein” had to have been one of the funniest things Ramsay has ever said. The entire team got the forced eating punishment when three raw salmon and an overcooked NY strip were brought up. They did manage to complete service.

In the Red, Sarah got things off with overcooking scallops. Alison then served a mac n cheese with way too much salt in it. This was because Michelle put extra salt in it. Mac n cheese is already salty with the cheese in it. At entrees, Monique sent up two undercooked Wellingtons. That wasn’t the only problem the meat station had that night. Mieka would later make a raw NY strip. The entire team was thrown out when Mieka brought up a well done NY strip (the last one) and Sarah made a raw burger.

The Red’s strategy was to put up Monique and Sarah to get Monique eliminated. Nobody on the Red wanted Mieka to go home. They did just that, but Ramsay had none of it and sent Mieka home.

If there is one thing you can’t do is put one over on Ramsay. He’s been doing this far too long to fall for that strategy. Besides that, this was a decent episode. Not much happening but still entertaining nonetheless.
