T and Meghan battle it out for a chance to be Gordon Ramsay’s new head chef at “Caesar’s†Atlantic City and a $250,000 salary on the final episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.â€
Ramsay started off this surprise-filled episode by bringing in Season 10 winner Christina Wilson. She was there to bring T and Meghan to Las Vegas. If you’ve ever seen a “Hell’s Kitchen†finale, you knew where this went. T and Meghan spent a day in an expensive suite and then received advice from Christina. The only thing worth mentioning is T picked up Meghan and carried her all the way to the dorms. That was the funniest part of the episode.
After that, both chefs were taken to Ramsay’s house. Obviously, this wasn’t Ramsay’s house, but the stage for the final challenge. Both chefs had 60 minutes to cook a cold appetizer, a hot appetizer, a chicken entrée, a fish entrée and a beef entrée. As with previous seasons, each dish was judged by big-name chefs including a “Hell’s Kitchen†regular Wolfgang Puck. T won the challenge 42-41
If this sounds like there were no surprises, there really weren’t. It was all by the numbers events we’ve all seen before. Even which team each returning chef was on. For that matter, T had Milly, Nick, Adam and Christine. Meghan had Michelle, Alison, Josh and Randy.
The only entertaining and surprising part of the episode was the final dinner service. It is expected that these returning chefs would have problems, but not at this level. This was exacerbated by each kitchen having a chefs table. T had actress Tiffany Thiessen and Meghan had singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb.
The biggest story on T’s team was how terrible Adam was. He continually undercooked rib cap to the point that T had no choice but to put him on garnish. Even there, he showed he lacked skill. T once again had to switch him with another station. In fact, this “musical stations†game continued up until the last few tables. It’s amazing that T had to do this; these chefs should’ve known better.
Randy was the chef who continually kept Meghan’s team down. After bringing out a raw chicken, he proceeded to put a cut chicken into the oven. Randy showed a lot of potential before he was eliminated, yet here he made rookie mistakes. Meghan put on desserts afterwards.
Both teams finished strong. Of course, the time came for Ramsay to think about his decision. Afterwards came where T and Meghan had to stand in front of the two doors. Meghan’s door opened, making her Season 14’s winner.
This final could’ve gone either way. Meghan, despite having a losing record on challenges, made it to the final and won. T had some issues as well, but she improved greatly near the end. This season is one of the best seasons so far. No “Hell’s Bitches,†so brawls despite some near misses and no annoying chefs. This is one season that is worth owning on DVD when it is released.
