NXT Coverage: A Wasted Opportunity?

Six job outs and little in terms of storyline development made this week’s NXT a weak one. No in-ring work from Finn Balor, Kevin Owens or Blake and Murphy as well made it an episode with an absence of real star power away from the in-ring debut of Samoa Joe.

All in all, it was an experience that did nothing to bolster the NXT brand, but the promise of an Owens Joe match next week could change things quickly.

Matches:

Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley vs. Elias Sampson and Mike Wallace: Ryder and Rawley were in control throughout and won with the assisted Rough Ryder.

Emma vs. Blue Pants: Emma was not messing around. Although Blue Pants got in some offense, Emma got the win with the Emma Lock.

Bull Dempsey vs. Tyler Breeze: A joke of a match as Breeze showed the world Dempsey had no wind before he finished him off with the Beauty Shot.

Becky Lynch vs. Jessie McKay: A sloppy match that saw Lynch win with a modified face-first slam that she bridged beautifully into her trademark Arm-Bar for the submission win.

Baron Corbin vs. Angelo Dawkins: Corbin got the win with the End of Days in another quick job-out.

Samoa Joe vs. Scott Dawson: Joe got the win with the Muscle Buster, but Dawson, unlike the other losers on this episode, at least tried to make it a fight. After the match, Joe and Kevin Owens (who provided commentary during the match) shot some promo to end the show, before NXT General Manager William Regal announced Owens will take on Joe in a non-title match next week..
