TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Lashley Wins X-Division Title, Retains TNA World Title

TNA may not have the stars the WWE or even NXT has, but Bobby Lashley and Eddie Edwards put on a show this week on Impact. Their title for title match, simply put, was one of the best in-ring performances in TNA in months.

Add in the opening round of the Bound for Glory Playoff series and it’s hard to be upset with what the product put on the air this week.

Matches:

Bound For Glory Playoff Series: Jeff Hardy w/Matt Hardy and Reby Sky vs. Michael Bennett: Hardy was not himself obviously and Bennett got the win with the Cutter. After the match, Matt Hardy continued to call Jeff “obsolete” as he left the ring.

Bound For Glory Playoff Series: James Storm vs. Matt Hardy w/Reby Sky: Thanks a hammer shot to the ankle from Reby, Hardy hit the Twist of Fate for the win.

Bound For Glory Playoff Series: Ethan Carter III vs. TNA King of the Mountain Champion Eli Drake: Drake hung in the match much longer than expected and continues to prove he belongs in the upper tier of the promotion. Ironically, after a series of counters, Carter avoided the Blunt Force Trauma and got the victory with the Rollup.

Bound For Glory Playoff Series: Drew Galloway vs. Bram: A competitive encounter that saw Galloway get the win with a second rope Future Shock DDT.

Six Sides of Steel: Title for Title: X-Division Champion Eddie Edwards vs. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley: This was a strike-heavy, slow-paced war that Edwards nearly won after a Frankensteiner from near the top of the cage and the Boston Knee Party. Ashley then went for his title, but Edwards hit the BNP once again for a near-fall. Lashley then fought back with a Superplex from the top of the cage and hit two Spears for the win to claim both the X-Division and TNA World Heavyweight championships. After the match, all the members of the Bound For Glory Playoff series hit the ring and the war continued to end the show.
