Five squash matches and the announcement of a Samoa Joe/Shinsuke Nakamura main event at NXT Takeover Brooklyn were the story this week on NXT, as the raided roster had to begin to put the pieces back together following the WWE Draft. With new faces working their way up the card, NXT is a different promotion now, but still a solid one.
Matches:
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Wesley Blake: Armed with new entrance music and boots, Blake lasted a lot longer in the match than most would have expected. He even nailed Nakamura with a nice Clothesline at one point, but Nakamura got the win with the Double Knee in the corner, followed by the Reverse Exploder and Kinshasa. After the match, NXT General Manager William Regal hit the ramp and told The King of Strong Style he’d get an NXT title shot against Samoa Joe at NXT Takeover Brooklyn.
Billie Kay vs. Santana Garrett: Kay got the win with the Yakuza Kick. With solid strikes and a few unique duplexes and submissions, she kept the energetic Garrett at bay.
TM-61: Shane Thorne and Nick Miller vs. Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nails: Miller and Thorne wasted no time and got the win with the Double Chokeslam combination, The Thunderdome.
No Way Jose vs. Steve Cutler: Jose squashed Cutler with the Baseball Punch and Full Nelson Slam.
Kota Ibushi vs. Buddy Murphy: You gotta give it to Murphy, he was solid against Ibushi and nearly won the match on several occasions. But once Ibushi hit the Sit-Out Last Ride, you knew it was over.
