Miku is back and thanks to a plethora of great tracks and even more unlockables, “Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X,†from our early playtime, is a good that fans of the series will fall in love with.
Those who haven’t played the series before will find it a frenetic and fun rhythm game that is booming with color and intrigue. The story, this time circles around Miku and her friends who need your help to restore their world. The only way to do that is to play and finish songs. With different types of levels that force gamers to dress Miku in different ways to capture in-game bonuses, there’s a nice level of strategy that comes with the speed of the actual gameplay. While it isn’t a breakthrough feature, it’s a fun way to spice up the gameplay.
For those that haven’t played the game before, imagine Sony’s classic rhythm game “Frequency†in terms of button-pressing precision, but with an unmistakable anime-inspired look and fun characters, it’s unlike any rhythm game you’ve ever played. While it may take you a few songs to truly get immersed, it’s a guilty pleasure that simply plays well and looks awesome.
With so many different items to collect, players can spend hours trying to dress up Miku and rebuild the clouds that encompass the world. However, the only way this all works is if the music is enjoyable and the good news is if you’re a fan of J-Pop, “Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X†has a beefy soundtrack that features all types of different tracks.
After a few hours of gameplay, it’s obvious that “Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X†has the ability to steal many more.

Hickey Jr. is also a voice actor, having starred in the 2018 indie hit and 2019 Switch, PS4 and Xbox One release, The Padre (also serving as English language Story Editor), from Shotgun With Glitters. The sequel, The Padre: One Shell Straight to Hell was released in February 2021- Hickey also served as a Story Editor and Lead Voiceover performer. He has also done narration and trailers for several other titles including The Kaiju Offensive, Relentless Rex and Roniu’s Tale.
Hickey is also the lead voiceover performer on Mega Cat Studios’ upcoming title WrestleQuest, responsible for nearly 90 characters in the game, as well as Skybound's Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood, where he voices both Dracula and Renfield, as well as several other characters. He also stars in Ziggurat Interactive’s World Championship Boxing Manager 2, where he performs the VO of nearly every male character in the game. He also worked on the Atari VCS’s BPM Boy.
