Will it last?
It’s hard to see why it wouldn’t. Whilst League of Legends is the main game, e-sports are now spreading. Recently, Manchester signed an official e-sports player to the club to represent them in tournaments, and West Ham have also done the same thing.
The reason football clubs are getting involved is because the market continues to grow. It is predicted to more than double by 2017 and therefore is a great way for those involved to raise their profile.
Of course, as more money goes into it, the players get more and that will lead to more potential gamers dedicating their time to it. Who wouldn’t want to get paid for playing games?
So, it’s safe to assume that it will last and as the range of games increases, there will be something for everyone when it comes to either playing or watching e-gaming events.
That shows the rise of e-gaming over the recent years, and if it continues to grow it will just provide another avenue for players to concentrate their passion. With sponsorship, audiences and revenue growing, this is the newest form of gaming and it looks set to stay.
