Review Fix Exclusive: Charles Parker Talks Bring Back the Sun

Review Fix chats with Singer/Songwriter Charles Parker, who lets us know what inspired his new album and single, “Bring Back the Sun.”

About Charles Parker:

Parker’s debut album as a solo artist, Bring Back The Sun, features a sound that is big yet stripped down with infectious melodies and catchy hooks.  “When I sat down to write the album Bring Back the Sun, I don’t remember really trying to do it, it sort of just came out. I just remember sitting down with an acoustic and strumming some chords and humming a melody. I think the first two songs were “Love to Feel The Rain” & “Stop.” After that, the songs just kept coming.  I woke up in the middle of the night with the Chorus of “Bring Back The Sun.”  I got up, wrote it down and grabbed a guitar and finished the rest.  Good thing I didn’t go back to sleep that night.”

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Charles Parker: I have been playing since I was very young. The school band playing drums, Then got a hold of a guitar , piano etc… Played through the teen years and started playing in working bands not too long after that.

Review Fix: What makes your brand special?

Parker: I didn’t know I had a brand. I just do what comes out. Not really sure where it comes from. I guess it goes back to those early influences of teen pop radio and Kiss/ Beatles / Elvis.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Parker: I usually have an idea in my head, grab an acoustic guitar and start writing it down or now recording into the iPhone … Once I have a couple of songs I would go into the studio and  add all the other instruments / tracks.

Review Fix: What makes you different?

Parker: I think I have either been ahead or behind the times however you look at it… I wrote these songs during a time when record labels were looking for the heavier flavor of the week.  So it has taken time to come back around and be accepted by the public.. But i think a good song is a good song whenever you write it. Just wish I was in charge of the mainstream radio lol.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song on the album? How was it written?

Parker: “Bring back the Sun” is the song that we are pushing as the single… But I think there are several on the album that could be singles. That song came to me while I was sleeping .. I woke up with the chorus in my head..wrote it down . Got up and grabbed a guitar and finished it.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2017?

Parker: I would like to get my songs out to the public however I can… Hopefully go out and play some shows if the music catches on.  Working on a video for the single right now. Hopefully have it finished in a few weeks.  Just wait and see where it goes.

Review Fix: What makes your latest album special?

Parker: I just think there are a lot of good pop songs on the album that people can relate to.  The can have their own interpretations of the songs. It will mean different things to different people. And thats ok.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Parker: Just want people to enjoy the songs. They all seem pretty positive in their meaning. A lot of happy music on the album..Like I said people will in interpret the songs in their own way and thats a good thing.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Parker: Just released the album a couple weeks ago , so just want to get it out to the world and hope they like it. Build fanbase all over and hopefully be able to play my songs for them .

Parker: Just like to thank the guys at New Ocean Media. They are working hard on getting this out there. Before I met them I was just a guy with a cd that no one would ever hear.
