NXT Coverage: Roode Retains Against Strong

Although the in-ring action was scarce, the main event was a stellar one and because of that, NXT delivered once again this week.

Matches:

Sanity: Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dane vs. Kassius Ohno and Hideo Itami: Ohno never ever got an opportunity to tag in as Itami was on a crusade apparently. After Itami nailed Wolfe with the GTS, Dane, who was tagged in, nailed Itami with the Running Crossbody for the win.

Bianca Bel-Air vs. Aliyah: It was only a small clip, but Bel-Air got the win with the Spear.

Roderick Strong vs. NXT Champion Bobby Roode: Strong did everything but win this match as he hit a ton of strikes and Backbreaker variations. Roode was the consistent opportunist however and slowly and surely hit his signature maneuvers. Roode eventually hit Strong with the Glorious DDT, but Strong kicked out to get the crowd going. Strong then hit his Vertical Suplex Backbreaker for the win, but the referee didn’t see Roode’s leg was under the rope until after the count. Forced to restart the match, Roode hit the Glorious DDT on the outside in front of Strong’s wife. Once back in the ring, Roode hit the Glorious DDT again for the win.
