Review Fix Exclusive: Infinite Eve Talk ‘The Story’

Review Fix chats with Infinite Eve’s Eve Naylor and Paul Warren, who discuss their new EP, “The Story.”

About the Band:

Infinite Eve dropped their addictive debut EP The Story on all digital platforms on November 29th, making an epic splash in the Rock scene with thematic melodies, and lyrics everyone can get sad to.

The EP has something most inner alternative and hard rock kids desire. Vibes include, but are not limited to, pop/rock/alternative, heavy, ballad, ethereal, and even heavy metal undertones woven throughout. It’s the album to keep on repeat, giving a new edge to modern rock.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Paul:  I started playing guitar at age 13.  I actually formed my first band before getting a guitar, because I knew I had to make it happen!  Been playing ever since!

Eve: I’ve been singing before I could talk. My mom sang and taught piano, my brother played violin, so I was always around music. 

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Paul: Most of the time, Eve brings in a melody she’s written with lyrics, and then I arrange some guitar/bass/keyboard/drum parts for it.  Then we get together to really go over the details of what works or doesn’t work and iron that all out together.  It’s truly a collaborative venture on every tune.  Only a couple of times have we started with chords or riffs and then created a melody specific to that song.  One song where we did that was “The Story”.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Paul: Really great tones or production can be a big thing for me.  It can get me going in the right direction of the mood a riff or a section needs for a song.

Eve: I’m inspired most by other music. If I hear a melody or powerful delivery of lyrics, ideas start flowing and I start hearing what I need to write.  

Review Fix: What does this EP mean to you?

Eve: As when any musicians put so much effort into their music, it’s a statement of who we are as artists.  This EP really has the Infinite Eve sound throughout it, whether it’s a ballad or a metal tune.  We definitely view it as an accomplishment, but we also see it as the beginning of good things to come!

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Paul: Certainly, we do share some things in common with Evanescence and Paramore, so that might help describe some of it.  If you like powerful, soaring female vocals and catchy guitar riffs, then we have that for you!

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Eve: We try to replicate our studio work fairly close in a live setting. But the crowds do enjoy it when we throw in some covers of our favorite groups. So we do some really classic covers like Heart’s Barracuda and that’s always fun!

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Eve: “I Wanted to Stay” was inspired by my telltale first real breakup. I couldn’t let it go because there was no finality. I felt like he still wanted me, and I still wanted him, but after a lot of hurt, I left and he never asked me to stay. So I wrote about it a year after that breakup. 

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?

Paul: We are working hard on building our fanbase through social media platforms and are looking at all sorts of show possibilities for the summer especially.  But we also hope to do more shows on the road in 2020 so we hope to make that happen in some really cool places!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Eve: We already have new songs that need recording, so that’s part of the plan.  And we also plan to connect with new fans through some creative marketing of our music.  The digital world changes so fast, so we’re doing our best to be creative and get the word out!
