Building feuds for Brit Baker, Christopher Daniels and Cody Rhodes may not seem terribly exciting, but it was solid and sets the tone for what will be three memorable AEW feuds. Make no mistake, this was a worthwhile episode of AEW that proves to be a consistent middle-ground.
Matches:
Ortiz w/Santana vs. Cody Rhodes w/Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes: Jake Roberts and Lance Archer were watching in the crowd, but Cody was on his game. It also helped that Ortiz was more than fodder. However, after Rhodes worked on his leg, he got the win with the Figure-Four. After the match, Santana nailed Rhodes with the Madball, but The Elite and Arn Anderson had his back.
Bea Priestley and AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose vs. Kris Stratlander and Hikaru Shida: This match went entirely too long. Shida and Stratlander looked great, as did Priestley, but Rose dominated and got the win itht he Spear and Beast Bomb. After the match however, Priestley took out Rose.
MJF, The Butcher and The Blade w/The Bunny and Wardlow vs. The Jurassic Express: Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Marco Stunt: Luchasaurus was dominant, but MJF got the win with a Reverse Armbar on Stunt.
Private Party: Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen and Joey Janela vs. Death Triangle: Rey Fenix, Pac and Pentagon Jr.: Janela and company hung in there, but Pac eventually got the win with the Black Arrow after Fenix and Pentagon hit the Stomp/Package Piledriver.
The Inner Circle: Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevera w/Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager vs. Dustin Rhodes and AEW Tag Team Champion Adam Page: Rhodes had his moments, as did Page, but Guevara and Jericho were on their A-game. Page eventually fought back and won with the Buckshot Lariat, but by the end of it all, Jericho and the rest of the faction destroyed The Elite and ended the show laughing, with middle-fingers drawn.
