Review Fix Exclusive: The BlackLava’s Carlo “Karlo” Loglisci Talks Goals And More

Review Fix chats with The BlackLava’s Carlo “Karlo” Loglisci, who discusses the band’s origin, goals and inspirations.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Carlo “Karlo” Loglisci: We started in 2014. Me, Mark (who previously played the guitar) and Gabry (ex bass player). I was already friends with both. We went to a rehearsal room of a metalhead friend of ours and used the logic pro loops as drums. Thinking about it now makes me smile! After two months Gabry introduced us to Diego, a drummer friend of his. We played together for three years and we made an Ep and we were getting ready for the record. While recording the album Gabry left the band for personal reasons. It had been in the air for some time already. The Blacklava project was going on and he was unable to devote the necessary time and problems in the family made him make the decision. After a short time we decided that Mark would play the bass and that a friend of ours Matteo “Zeta” would play the solo guitarist! we finished the record and we are on tour in Europe and in 2019 Zeta leaves the band for study reasons! Now the training is complete with Francesco “Vip” on guitar! Francesco was our Producer since the first EP.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

I usually come up with an idea or main riff. Then in our rehearsal room I make it heard to everyone and then we play on it. After we have gained confidence I throw random words to create a vocal line and if everyone likes the piece then we define the structure.I have been to various bands and in some of these everything was decided together. For me it is something that does not work! there must be someone more influential. I always try to listen to everyone’s opinions and understand what’s best for the group!

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Loglisci: For me the last song is the coolest one! but what our fans like most is bones! Bones was born in an acoustic version at my house and I played it for my girlfriend. I wrote it in 2015. I liked it so much that I went to Francesco to record it and he also helped to arrange it. I share a lot with my friends, my band, so I make him hear the song and we decided to play it with the band. This song had an acoustic, metal, Acoustic rock version (only the Acoustic rock has become a single) and an electronic version will be released soon! Bones has a beautiful video shot by some of our friends and I recommend you go and see it!

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?

Loglisci: Now we are in quarantine (Covid-19 from 10 March and all public events and artists are canceled. When the quarantine ends, there will be a long period of adjustment in which the rules for events will change. so if we want to be positive, but really positive, we will return to a new normal in a year. So I can’t predict how things will go. We still had things to publish: The video of our single “Woman” due out on April 14th and the Bones Remix that we will release I think in June. but finished these things we will have to find a way to reinvent ourselves!

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Loglisci: The main intent is that people have fun and feel more carefree! We have a lot of fun, especially while alive. We are very rough live!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Loglisci: As I said before, I don’t know how things will go. We are lucky because in addition to our band, each of us has a very stable job but all the bands, the musicians, club managers, event organizers who are now stationary are very worried. Many of our friends who play and teach music at the moment are still and do not receive any money. So stay strong, stay Happy we are all in it..Together!
