Review Fix chats with Spacejam’s Sebastian Parris, who discusses the band’s origin, goals and standout tunes.
Review Fix: How did the project start?
Sebastian Parris: Spacejam started in 2017 with Two other incredibly talented musicians. Ali on the bass & KC on the drums.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Parris: I am the only Spider who writes songs I have cut the other spiders legs in the band, so they can’t write! I don’t remember what really inspires me, maybe it’s all about love and hate and human feelings and stupid things like that I guess. You’ll have to find out I’m afraid!
Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?
Parris: Stay Alive. It’s a song about Love, Hope, freedom and starting over. A very current song init?
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?
Parris: Playing live on stage again, touring, recording a new album with great record producers such as Clive Martin who did our latest album “Ten”. Clive was the record producer of David Bowie, The Cure, Sting, Queen…. I would love people to wake up and fight for their rights! I wanna be a star and I won’t stop ’till I die. Drinking a good pint in a Pub, fish’n’chips, jumping and swimming in the crowd, playing football in Hyde Park with 500 people!
Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?
Parris: I would like to take the listeners on an interstellar journey so that they escape and rediscover the simple pleasure of good things. Good music, good words joy and happiness. I am a utopist realist a space cowboy a gangster of love…..Na I’m not!
Review Fix: What’s next?
Parris: We have about 30 new songs that we are currently working on.
Eat, drink, party, barbecue with friends, travel all over the world. Go on a world tour with other bands and have fun like crazy as if there were no tomorrows and take our audience with uson this incredible trip.
