Review Fix Exclusive: AV Super Sunshine Talks ‘X File: 8675309’ And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter AV Super Sunshine, who discusses his origin in the industry as well as his new single, X File: 8675309.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

AV Super Sunshine: I bought a guitar one day and my friend taught me “Smoke On The Water” and I was hooked.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

AV Super Sunshine: I just play and see what comes out in regards to chords and melody.  However, I usually have something to say with my lyrics so I take a lot of time getting the message just right.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

AV Super Sunshine: I’ve got a lot of anxiety so I’d say part of it is fear of failure.  It gets me off the couch.  But more than anything else my appreciative and growing fan base really inspires me to keep producing at a higher level.

Review Fix: What does music mean to you?

AV Super Sunshine: It’s essential to both Philomena’s and my life.  I can’t travel anywhere without a guitar.  It’s how I live, breath nd communicate.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

AV Super Sunshine: Most of my songs are up tempo and a lot of fun.  The style leans toward a more classic rock influence but with totally modern lyrics and recording technique.  This has allowed us to chart simultaneously at the top of the Pop, Rock and Adult Contemporary global genre airplay charts.  I like to call it “Modern Classic Rock” but perhaps that title is a little too limiting.  Also, thanks to Michael (Producer/Bassist Michael Bradford) the bass is always huge.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

AV Super Sunshine: Along with the main recording of each single we do multiple mixes in multiple genres.  This gives us a lot more leeway in a live situation and a chance to really mix things up rather than follow a theme as done when making a studio album.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

AV Super Sunshine: Philomena and I have a film called “Alien Abduction” which is a really freaky story about a physical abduction involving a moving car extraction.  I was writing songs for it when the Tommy Tutone song opportunity came up.  I was working a tune called “X File” and his iconic hook magically fit perfect after the chorus.  It kinda gives me the shivers to think how perfect.

Wouldn’t it be cool if by some magic power or technology aliens themselves had something to with bringing us together.

Review Fix: Why do people love aliens so much?

AV Super Sunshine: I think we love aliens because it’s just plain fun to love aliens.  Think about it.  For some aliens are to be feared as potential plunders of Earth.  For others they offer hope in the form of help and/or guidance from an advanced civilization.  We may even subconsciously want them to exist so that we’re not alone in the universe with no possibility of being rescued in case we mess up.

Review Fix: How does it feel to be connected to the landmark ’80s track?

AV Super Sunshine: Very cool!  What can I say?  I think it was one of the very first tracks on MTV (Music Television) and it’s been in heavy rotation everywhere. It still gets lots of play to this day. What an honor.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2020?

AV Super Sunshine: Just keeping focused on preparing for when the pandemic is over and we can get out and start playing live again.  In regards to the film we recently secured representation from a major entertainment attorney who wants to take what we’ve already completed and turn it into a 3 part mini series.   We’ve been preparing for that possibility which is some work.

Review Fix: What’s next?

AV Super Sunshine: I’m in the process of recording a new album with Michael (Producer/Bassist Michael Bradford).  It’s a group of songs I wrote which are influenced by artistic conversations I had on social media with the artist Lady Gaga during the time of her Art Pop tour.  We had a lot of fun and shared some cool ideas.  It was a crazy fun time for her artistically and I was lucky enough to hang out and bit and share in the conversation so expect something really special.  The first couple of tracks are turning out killer so wish us luck.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

AV Super Sunshine: We’re just thrilled over all the positive feedback for the music and all the new fans who have been turning on to it.  In response and as a thank you we’ve really been working hard and promise some great new singles and videos coming your way.  It’s on an honor to be a musician and we thank you for the opportunity.
