Review Fix Exclusive: Elizabeth Talks Creative Process, Inspiration and Future in Music.

Processed with VSCO with c6 preset

Review Fox chats with Aussie songstress Elizabeth, who discusses her origin in music and more.

About Elizabeth:

Stepping into her sound like a silk robe, Elizabeth is the patron saint of sad girls on her debut record, the wonderful world of nature (out now), with a DELUXE version including six new songs now available, via AntiFragile. The Deluxe album features all the original songs from the album released last year plus six raw and emotional piano versions of album favorites “parties” and “death toll” and four new original songs including a stunning cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way”.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Elizabeth: I have been playing music for as long as I can remember. My dad taught me to sing harmonies to the Eagles and Billy Joel. I played in bands when I was a teenager and I never stopped.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Elizabeth: To write I sit in my room at my old piano, my little dog at my feet. I write to communicate my feelings about myself and the world and the people I love so it can be an emotional process. Sometimes I think of lyrics when I’m driving or walking and I have to rush home to get them into a song.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Elizabeth: Relationships, mostly. Feelings of change and stagnation. Falling in love, falling out of love.

Review Fix: What does music mean to you?

Elizabeth: Music is a means of communication and connection. There is nothing more amazing the looking into someone’s eyes when I’m on stage and realising we are having a shared experience. My pain is their pain, my joy is their joy too.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Elizabeth: The songs of a starlet, here to make you cry.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Elizabeth: In the studio it’s usually just me and a producer. On stage I play with a band of incredible women, and I love the energy that comes from everyone being together; me, the audience and the band.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Elizabeth: I just released to deluxe edition of my album ‘The Wonderful World of Nature’. It included 7 songs that I recorded by myself during isolation. These songs represent how I felt during this time. Very raw, very alone but eager to share and connect. What a weird time to be alive.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2020?

Elizabeth: Lie on the beach, eat dragon fruit, rest and recover.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Elizabeth: A new album in 2021 and many more abundant feelings.
