Review Fix Exclusive: Madzilla’s David Cabezas Talks ‘Vengeance’ And More

Review Fix chats with Madzilla’s David Cabezas, who discusses the band’s origin and standout work.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

David Cabezas: Madzilla started as a project I had a few years ago, when an unfortunate car accident, in which I lost a great childhood friend, lead to the creation of the band’s earliest single “Judgment Day”, a song dedicated to the final moments of life, and the loss of a loved one.

Having a few songs written, I felt the need to get this ideas and feelings heard, which is what made me start recruiting band members.

We all actually met when the Madzilla auditions took place

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Cabezas: I have done a fair amount of writing on the currently released tunes, specially since, as mentioned earlier, Madzilla was originally my project. However, we try to collaborate as much as possible on the writing process. Every idea is welcome, and everyone brings in their input and style.

That being said, every Madzilla song Strats off with a riff idea, and everything develops from there.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Cabezas: Our main single “Vengeance”. We wrote that song after feeling trapped working for a power hungry boss, who’s only goal was to be recognized as the man in charge, and had no interest in making the team grow and prosper. Vengeance, in a metaphorical way, is Madzilla’s way of saying that the best revenge is to live a good life, it’s what hurts the one who hurts you.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2021?

Cabezas: To keep going! We want to get back on the road as soon as possible. But in the meantime, we’re writing, recording, and producing! The Madzilla Train never stops!

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Cabezas: The same way other band’s music has affected us. It’s brought us so much life, so much joy, and most of all hope! If one of our songs can do that for someone else, we will have achieved our biggest goal.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Cabezas: More music! New songs, new videos, and hopefully new tours soon!! Stay Tuned!!
