Review Fix Exclusive: Christopher Taylor Talks North Star And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Christopher Taylor who discusses his creative process and new single, North Star.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Christopher Taylor: I guess my latest project is working with The Animal Farm studios.  I met up with Ville Leppanen after a connection through ReverbNation. That was is 2018. We planned a project of up to 12 singles over the next 4 years kicking off in 2019.  Since then we’ve released Counting Bluebirds, With You Life’s Beautiful, 16 Wishes, My Angel, Can’t Stop, We Are One and just out 26 March, North Star. Coming in June By My Side.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Taylor: I write the music on my own.  For the lyrics some are self penned and I also have collaborations with my long time friend Stephen Cree and my niece Harriet Sanders.  Songs are inspired by situations around us, a lot are about relationships and life’s challenges. Working with Ville and Mat Leppanen at the Animal Farm we then put the ‘bells and whistles’ to the track in their studio.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Taylor: Good question!! My songs do vary in style but I think because it really encapsulates my feeling that a song should be strong lyrically, have a catchy feel and infectious chorus it’s got to be my latest release North Star. It’s a song about having someone who is consistently there, supportive and honest and who is a moral and emotional compass.  Stephen Cree wrote the words and wrote the music.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2021?

Taylor: In a nutshell after the last year – more gigs and opportunities to promote my songs.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Taylor: I hope my songs really connect with people whatever their situation. I’ve had fan feedback that thanks me for a song which was just been the tonic they needed. I guess I want my music to be accessible to all.

I would hope any new listener would think Christopher Taylor is a songwriter who writes the sort of songs they want to hear more of!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Taylor: My song, By my side, is out in June. Then it’ll back to the studio for more shenanigans in the summer.  Gigs are starting to come in again now so hopefully in to the summer there will be some news and I’ll keep people posted on my web site and socials. But more recording and gigging definitely – I’ve really missed playing live gigs this year and when performing is in your DNA you can imagine how frustrating that can be.
