New Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer Turns Heads

Ever since 1997’s craptacular Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, fans have been asking the same question for years. When is the next movie coming out? Bloodthirsty prayers may have be en finally answered when last week a youtube channel called MortalKombatRebirth popped up and mysteriously placed a near eight-minute trailer of what could possibly be the franchises next step.

All rumors of the trailer being for the next video game were dispelled on June 10, when the E3 convention revealed a trailer for the new brawler set to be released in 2011.

The trailer is edited well and is, in no way, fan made, unless that fan was either Eli Roth or Rob Zombie. It opens with Michael Jai White (Spawn) as Detective Jackson (JAX) Briggs, revealing several case files of serial killers, who turn out to be Baraka and Reptile. It also reveals the basis of the plot and more modernized and realistic looking characters, in contrast to the fantasy and sci-fi elements the franchise is known for.

The premise is much darker, the fight choreography and the bits of character development we can gather are well written, and as a whole, looks good.

Simply put, this looks to be the Mortal Kombat film audiences been hunting for the last 13 years.
