Sleepless Nights Ahead

Being scared never felt so fun while watching a film, especially when it involves two of the best horror gurus in the movie business, George A. Romero and Stephen King. Their work in this movie is so tremendous that it will leave chills running down your spine. “Creep Show” is one of those films that will definitely give you the creeps with its terrifying score and spooky stories, not to mention it will have you experiencing sleepless nights.

“Creep Show” takes you on a thrill ride with five tales of terror straight out of a comic book. The first story deals with a crazy old man who returns from the grave to get his precious Father’s Day cake that his murdering daughter never gave him. This story has to be the scariest out of the five due to frightening music and the anticipation of expecting a scary scene to occur, and when it does, boy will it have you shivering with fear.

The second tale is about a goofy farmer who discovers a meteor that lands on his farm. After he touches it, everything around him turns to plant life, even himself. This story was the least frightening, though. You could say that it’s a bit comical, which is the calm before the storm, as a full of fright and chills awaits.

The third tale is about a crazy husband who buries his wife and her lover to their necks on a beach. This story is quite frightening, knowing that when the dead walk amongst you, your life is bound to end.

The fourth tale is about a creature that lives in a crate under the steps of a school and is the most suspenseful out of all. Not knowing what lives under those steps gives the movie a dramatic touch.

If you hate cockroaches, however, this final story will definitely have you on your feet and searching if there are any by you or anywhere in your house. This one is about a rich businessman who lives in an apartment in the city infested with cockroaches. Let’s just say that they’re everywhere, and there is nothing he could do about it.

What makes “Creep Show” so attractive is its star-studded cast such as Ed Harris, Leslie Nielson, Stephen King and Ted Danson. Although their performances are not phenomenal, they are good enough to make the film enjoyable, and the intense horror within each story more than makes up for any acting mishaps. There will be moments in this film that will have your heart pounding, and that alone is worth the watch.

The make up design for “Creep Show” was the best part of the film. For a movie that came out in the ‘80s, the characters look so scary that you would often have to cover your eyes.

“Creep Show” is not only frightening, but is also fun and would to watch over and over again. Its appeal is so massive that it will have you talking about it for years to come. This film has what every horror movie fan dreams of and that is a big explosion of intense fear. Going to bed will not be easy after this experience.

Romero and King are the icing on the cake, putting five suspenseful and scary stories together that are not only chilling, but fun at the same time, adding a sense of realism to the film.

Five things you should know before watching this film are: you had better make father his cake, do not touch the meteor, try to hold your breath for a long time, don’t go under those stairs and kill those cockroaches. If that is too much to handle, then don’t bother experiencing this fright fest.

I grew up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, the same neighborhood many of the best mafia films of our day were based on, idolizing guys like Robert Deniro, Martin Scorsese and Al Pacino. I'm also a big sports fan and follow the New York Yankees immensely.
