NEW DROPKICK MURPHYS CD ‘GOING OUT IN STYLE’ AVAILABLE TODAY VIDEO FOR TITLE TRACK DEBUTS AT ROLLINGSTONE.COM

Dropkick Murphys’ new CD Going Out In Style is out today via their own Born & Bred Records (ILG). In connection with the CD release, the band’s video for the title track, “Going Out In Style,” is now exclusively available at RollingStone.com: http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/blogs/rolling-stone-video-blog/exclusive-the-dropkick-murphys-throw-a-wild-irish-party-in-going-out-in-style-20110301.

In the clip–directed by Mark Higgins–a funeral parlor scene quickly becomes a raucous celebration of life. Dropkick Murphys are joined by friends, family and special guests including NHL Hall of Famer Bobby Orr (Boston Bruins alumni), fellow musicians Fat Mike (NOFX) and Chris Cheney (The Living End), along with a host of Boston-based celebrities: Micky Ward (boxing champion; The Fighter), Lenny Clarke (Rescue Me actor & comedian), Shawn Thornton (Boston Bruins), Milan Lucic (Boston Bruins), Kevin Youkilis (Boston Red Sox) and Heidi Watney (NESN reporter).

Dropkick Murphys– Al Barr (lead vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, accordion, whistle, vocals), Ken Casey (lead vocals, bass guitar), Jeff DaRosa (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, harmonica, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, vocals), James Lynch (guitar, vocals), and Scruffy Wallace (bagpipes)–are touring the U.S. on their annual St. Patrick’s Day trek which wraps up in Boston with a string of St. Patty’s Day week hometown gigs. The current tour dates are below.

Going Out In Style is already receiving praise from the media. Here’s a sample of some of the early acclaim:

“On its seventh studio album, the Boston band continues waving twin flags of revelry and revolution, hosting a raucous barroom party while whipping up fervor for organized labor and other social causes. Much of Style stems from the band’s family histories, compressed into the struggle of fictional character Cornelius Larkin. The tales are funny, moving, inspiring and, above all, entertaining.”

–Edna Gundersen, USA Today, March 1, 2011

“The Boston Irish-punk septet never met a shout-along chorus they didn’t want to crash into, with a bagpipe tooting along for an extra shot of old-world poignancy. Going Out In Style…veers into tears-in-your-pint sentimentality on ballads like ‘1953.’ But reservations disappear at the sound of full-fathom burner ‘Peg ‘O My Heart,’ a sweet, boozy love song with guest vocals by anther guy who takes no quarter: Bruce Springsteen.”

–Jody Rosen, Rolling Stone, March 3, 2011

“More lovable mayhem from Boston Red Sox’s house band…The 13 songs that make up Going Out In Style feature hard-working characters working early-morning jobs while living late-night lifestyles, a mixture of Protestant work ethic and a Catholic lust for life. Thrown onto punk music that is emotionally stirring as it is tested…”

–Ian Winwood, Kerrang!, February 26, 2011

“Boston’s most treasured punk success…The Dropkicks paid about a decade’s worth of dues in the punk-rock salt mines before hitting it big…There’s an underlying optimism to the Dropkicks that’s rare for punk people. It’s the idea that a little pride in wherever and whatever you’re from – even if we’re talking about a conceptual ‘place’ like punk rock – provides spiritual and psychic armor against the abyss.”

–Barry Thompston, Boston Phoenix, February 22, 2011

“Aerosmith sold more records, New Kids on the Block sold more lunch boxes and Boston named itself after our fair city, but none of them can write a hometown anthem like the Dropkick Murphys.”

–Jed Gottlieb, Boston Herald, February 28, 2011
