Madame Tussauds Immortalizes Bieber

A wax figure of Justin Bieber debuted at Madame Tussauds New York today, complete with a pair of paints and a vest that the crooner donated. Bieber’s wax self, which artists devoted four months of work to, will accompany the museum’s statue of his mentor Usher, along with replicas of Lindsay Lohan and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Fans will also get to see models of Bieber at Madame Tussauds in London and Amsterdam, which Bret Pidgeon, the general manager at its New York location, said met with the pop star’s approval. “He’s very happy with all three,” Pidgeon said.

Even though Madame Tussauds has three other locations in the United States, Pidgeon said that New York’s a befitting place for Bieber’s wax portrait.

“New York is such a big, iconic city, and Justin Bieber is a big, iconic star,” he said. “It just makes sense for him to be here, as we have so many visitors… We’ve had an astounding response from our guests saying they want Justin Bieber here.”

Less than an hour after Bieber’s likeness premiered in New York, fans congregated to kiss it and stroke its hair. Is it strong enough to hold up against all that affection?

“I sure do hope so,” Pidgeon said.
