From the start of this week’s episode of “Tough Enough,†it was apparent that Andy Leavine was the odd man out in the house. Both Luke Robinson and Jeremiah Riggs were extra confident that they would be the last two. However, all three of the final contestants were a bit off in the opening drills. Perhaps it was the training team’s way of keeping them on their toes. Either way, these guys looked awfully green.
Things went from serious to fun in a flash though, as The Miz joined Andy, Luke and Jeremiah and the trainers at a photo shoot. Obviously, the charismatic and egotistical Robinson stood out in the shoot and quickly caught the attention of The Miz. And while Leavine more than held his own in spite of his shyness, Jeremiah continued to surprise with his humor, passion and guts. Posing without his false teeth, Riggs pulled no punches.
After the shoot, the group headed back into the ring and looked remarkably better than they did earlier. Robinson hit the type of dropkick Shawn Michaels would be proud of, while both Riggs and Leavine found their element. For Riggs, it was just a matter of slowing things down. His speed is his greatest asset, but with his MMA training, it stops him from crafting a match and slowing down at the right time. For Leavine, it was more of him putting the extra oomph on his moves. The biggest man in the competition, Leavine has finally begun to show his strength in the ring.
Things continued to pick up in the ring later in the show after Riggs hit twisting elbow drop off the top rope. Up until this point, none of the contestants have performed anything this complicated. This move set him apart from the rest of the group, but several small mistakes proved that he was the most green.
The final meeting of the night, where Stone Cold Steve Austin met Riggs, Robinson and Leavine in the ring was filled with drama. While Robinson appeared safe, Austin ripped into all three of the competitors to the point where you had no idea who was going home.
In the end however, Riggs’ inexperience caught up to him and he was finished.
As a result, next week, Robinson and Leavine will compete at an FCW show for a WWE contract.
Both have positive momentum on their side.
